How did you hear about Cheshire Academy?
My sister also attended CA!
What brought you to Cheshire Academy? Did you want to attend initially?
No one is ever too keen on leaving what they know and making new friends, but now I’m happy to be here. I thought Cheshire Academy would be more like public school, but it’s not as cliquey.
What are a few words you would use to describe Cheshire Academy?
Cheshire Academy is different—in a good way. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made, even though I was hesitant at first. It’s a friendly community with a spot for everyone.
What are the people like at Cheshire Academy? Students? Faculty?
The students are friendly and the teachers are understanding.
How would you describe your classes? What is your favorite class? Does any specific project or lesson stand out in your mind?
My Honors English class is challenging, but my History class is the most interesting. My teacher knows when to stick to the work or stray from a topic and allow discussion.
How have you grown most as a person during your time here?
I have grown in my work ethic and maturity. The students at Cheshire are all mature and responsible—it rubs off.
What is a favorite event you attended at CA?
Freshman we had a Hypnotist visit campus, and he hypnotized the students. He made one girl believe she was the laugh police so she tried to arrest everyone in the audience who laughed!
What is one of your favorite memories from Cheshire Academy so far?
The first time I came to school in my formal dress was like “wow—I’m really a student here now.” It was a great feeling.
The first day of school was really nerve-wracking, because I had to make new friends all of the sudden. I had no clue where to sit in the dining hall—but I was invited to sit down at a table by someone right away. Now I’m the comfortable one inviting other new students to sit down with me.
What has surprised you most about being a student at CA?
It's interesting how there are only 360 students here—you really get to know everyone. I’ve become more accepting of other cultures since it’s such a diverse community.
In my old school, everyone worried about ‘who’s who.’ That’s not the case here. It’s a family. We’re all here to learn.
What advice would you give prospective students about coming to CA?
Coming to Cheshire Academy was the best decision I’ve ever made. Even though you might feel nervous at first, you’re going to love it.
Anything else you’d like to share about your experiences here?
You really get to know people for every corner of the planet, and everyone here has a different story. Here, I have the opportunity to learn about what goes on in the world besides where I live.
