Every spring, our admissions team gets to select one very lucky (and very talented) Cheshire, CT resident as the recipient of a full, four-year scholarship to the Academy! (Think: Publishers Clearing House-style--balloons, hidden ambush, very large certificate...)This year, we were thrilled to announce our newest Town Scholar, Danielle Putnam! The announcement was made on March 9 when Admission Officer Matt Kallas and several current scholars brought a blow-up of Danielle’s acceptance letter to her home, along with fanfare, best wishes… and of course, the Cheshire Cat!
An eighth grader at Dodd Middle School, Danielle was a National Junior Honor Society member, captain of the Dodd soccer team, and was involved in numerous charities and after school clubs.
In January, Danielle and her mom traveled to Africa and volunteered at the Kampala Children’s Center. They worked at the orphanage in Uganda for two weeks--prior to which, Danielle accepted donations for the center in lieu of birthday presents before leaving Connecticut. Danielle also plays piano and trumpet. We look forward to welcoming Danielle for her freshman year this fall to our New England boarding school.
